"A walk in nature walks the soul back home"

Welcome to our wi-fi-free holiday cabins.

Nestled within 30 acres of nature reserve.

More and more of us are looking to disconnect reconnect, get off the grid, and escape the stresses of modern life. It can be surprisingly liberating to switch your iPhone off. Take time out to look around you, to look up, instead of down, and to converse with your companions. Read a book and strictly speaking, this should not be a Kindle. Life moves fast. And sometimes we forget to press pause. Unplugged cabins are designed to help you slow down.

Enjoy splendid views over magnificent lakes within a secluded 30-acre setting of the private wooded nature reserve called The Old Gravel Pits.

This is a relaxing and peaceful holiday base. Expanses of glittering tranquil water abound with fish, wildfowl, and other birds making it a private and exclusive paradise for visitors staying with us. The coarse fishing and nature reserve are for the sole use of our visitors to fish, bird watch, and enjoy the wildlife.

Walking paths have been cut into the site to enable you to get into the heart of this wildlife haven with benches perfectly placed for sketching, photography, or a restful place to watch the many species of woodland and field birds. For dedicated bird watchers, there is a hide by one of the lakes and each lodge has a plant and wildlife identification book to help your observations.
The coarse fishing is around the lakes which cover approximately 50% of the site with private fishing platforms situated at each lodge for the most convenient fishing experiences where you can fish for Rudd, Roach, Tench, Carp, Bream, and Ide.
Whether it’s a quiet getaway for two or a break in good company with friends, there is a lodge that has your name on the welcome mat.

All cabins have double French doors leading out onto your private verandahs. All cabins have fully equipped Kitchens, cast iron gas stoves, and laundry facilities. Natural paths meander around the 30 acres with little bridges connecting the smaller bodies of water. Fishing pegs can be found around the larger fishing Lake called Digby - for the wandering fisherman. All cabins provide a complete guide for everything you need to know about the cabins and our beautiful surroundings.

Year Round Residents include; Foxes, Deer, kingfishers, Hedgehogs, Swans, and cygnets, with occasional sightings of an otter, Herons, and Stoats.

Seasonal Residents include; Canadian Geese, Greylag geese, Cuckoos

Rating, 5 stars,·August 2023Wow, what a treat! I felt like not leaving a review, so the place stays quiet for when I want to book it again, but that wouldn't be fair. On the day of arrival, the host messaged me to say we could come in earlier (as the lodge was ready), and on the day of departure, I was told we didn't have to hurry as no one was coming that day- we appreciated it! When we arrived and saw the lodge from outside, I was overcome with happiness, as I love nature and the lodge itself with all the beautiful plants around it, looked idyllic. Inside, the lodge was spacious, very clean, and super-comfortable. There is not one thing I could fault about this place and I'm hoping to visit it soon again.

Rating, 5 stars,·July 2023If you’re looking for a secluded peaceful getaway away from the city then this is the place. A lovely cabin tucked away. Lots of land to explore and fish. Caught a 6lb Chub and a 10lb Carp. Francesca was a great host; very friendly and provided great advice on the surrounding areas. If you’re looking for a place to sit on social media, this is not the place for you. This is the place to unwind and enjoy nature! The cabin was stocked with the basics, including cleaning equipment. Would return and recommend it!
